It is with great joy that we announce the appointment of Dawn Moore as our new Families and Children’s Worker. Dawn is 38 years old and currently lives in Retford. She has two sons and a daughter: Jacob 11, Isaac 9 and Niah 7. Dawn is from Hucknall, north of Nottingham. Her current employment is as an Early Intervention Facilitator, that is working with children with emotional or behavioural issues in schools. Dawn heads up the children’s ministry at Retford Baptist Church which has grown from 5 to 40 in the last six years.
Dawn and her children will be moving into St Mark’s Vicarage, probably in the last week in July.
We hope that she will available to join the team leading the children’s Holiday Club at SSC in the first week in August. After this, and a break for a holiday, she will be working through an induction programme written by the Vicar to help her settle in to our two churches, to meet lots of people and to be introduced to local schools etc.
In her spare time Dawn loves running, mountain biking and she admits to being “a bit of a gym bunny”! She is currently exploring the sport of triathlon. The interview team that appointed Dawn were impressed with her deep love of Jesus, her instinctive rapport with children and her sparkling character.
Please pray for Dawn and her children as they prepare to move and join us. In particular we need prayer for her children to find places in local schools. It will be a big change for them and it is very important that we support them in this time of transition.
We thank God for Dawn’s appointment and we look forward to ministering with her in High Green and Grenoside and all that God may do with us in the years ahead.
