The Food Pantry is open on Friday Afternoons between 1.00pm and 3.00pm for pre arranged collections.
We know that many people struggle to feed their families and that a Foodbank can make a real difference.
If you or someone you know is struggling to put food on the table the most important thing is to get in touch and see if we can help.
If this is the first time you’ve spoken to us, we can accept a ‘self referral’ and we will arrange for you to collect an emergency parcel and see what help we can provide going forward.

Exciting News!

St Saviour’s Food Bank has transitioned to a Community Pantry as of 25th July.

What does this mean?

Rather than providing a series of free food parcels, we will now operate on a membership-based model that allows individuals to access food at significantly reduced prices.

How does it work?

To join, there is a one-time setup fee of £5, which gives someone 12 weeks of membership.

As a member, they can shop every Friday between 1pm and 3pm.

Each visit costs £3, allowing them to choose from a range of food items.

The first visit is free, so people can see if our pantry is the right fit for them.

Following this they can either join on the day, take the form and join the following week or choose it’s not for them.

Please note: that the 12-week membership period starts from the date of the first paid shop and is not extended if they miss any weeks.

Support if someone can’t afford membership right away?
If someone finds covering the membership fee challenging but still wants to join following the free shop, we can offer them support with this although they will need to pay the £3.00/shop.

Why the change?
Community pantries offer a more empowering and sustainable approach to food support. By contributing a small fee, our members retain dignity and choice while helping us reduce reliance on donations. This model also creates opportunities for deeper community involvement. Once a membership ends, individuals will be invited to renew their membership and volunteer with us—fostering connection and mutual support.

What this means for our Referees?

You can still refer clients to the Food Pantry @ SSC however we’re only offering one free parcel (as described above) after which they will be either invited to join if they think it’s right for them, are eligible and we have capacity. This is a new venture for us, so your feedback is very welcome.

We rely on donations to support those in our area so a very big thankyou to everyone who give us donations either individually or through the baskets in ASDA.

Thankyou to everyone who’s supported the Food Bank throughout this year.

We’ve given out an average of 21 food parcels each Friday to help families and individuals both in High Green and Chapeltown.

Since moving to a Food Pantry, we’ve given out over 50 Free Parcels to Individuals and Families and currently have 29 regular members shopping each week.

Friday 19th December is our last one of the year before Christmas when we’re handing out our Christmas hampers. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and we’ll be open again on 2nd January 2026
